My Katie
Mood:  happy
Now Playing: Daughters by John Mayer
In honor of my baby's birthday, here is the story of my Katie.

Katie was a surprise. She really wasn't planned. I had been in Fresno for three months staying with my mom because her doctor had found a growth on her cervix and was going through all sorts of testing. My husband came to visit and of course since we hadn't seen each other in three months, well you get the picture. I hadn't been using my birth control pills because, well I didn't expect to need them. Silly me, I know.

Three weeks later, my mom was given a clean bill of health and her issues had been resolved. So home to San Diego I went. A week later we were having dinner at my hubby's uncle's house and his aunt said, "you're pregnant aren't you?" I said that I didn't think so, as it hadn't been enough time to even know if I was. One of hubby's cousins worked at the local hospital and for some reason had thought of me and brought a pregnancy test home. Now that I think about it, everybody seemed to know something that I didn't.

The next morning I took the test and at first no second line appeared. So I left it and about 5 minutes later realized that I hadn't thrown it in the trash. So I went back to get it and lo' and behold! A second line had appeared. Katie was on her way.

It was a pretty easy pregnancy with the exception that Katie had decided she would like to come out feet first. If you've ever carried a baby that decides to be breech and stay that way, the pressure is crazy. When the baby kicks, oi! It's really something else. We scheduled a c-section and arranged for my mom to come stay with our son while I was in the hospital.

The birth was extremely easy, as one might imagine it would be. The second baby is definetly easier, even if it is a c-section. You just know what to expect and it's not quite so scary. Katie was definetly not happy to be out in the world just yet. Even though she arrived weighing 8lbs. 5 ozs., she was so very tiny. She still is very petite. As they took me back to my room I could hear her crying from the nursery. I had gestational diabetes, so they had to take her and check that her blood sugar was ok and give her a complete check up. My room was on the opposite side of the hospital from the nursery and I could hear her crying all the way on the other side. Needless to say when they brought her in, she stopped crying and was really ready to eat.

I can't believe it's been three years already. I can still remember seeing her little face for the very first time. She's such a feisty little girl. She was born with attitude to spare, that's for sure. I tell people that she's a little old lady that's been reincarnated. She seems that way because that's really the impression you get. That she's been here before. She has been putting herself to bed since she was about 11 months old. She loves to go shoe and purse shopping. She is the sweetest thing and so very very beautiful.

Happy birthday baby, I'm so very glad you're here with us.

Just Checkin' In
Mood:  rushed
Now Playing: Strawberry Shortcake
Ok, real quick 'cause I just had to go rescue a goldfish out of the hamster cage. Don't you just love kids. My daughter was convinced they would like to play together.

I had to come home early today because my son is sick. Ear infections in both ears. Oye! Here we go on another round of antibiotics. If it's not one kid,it's the other.

Still busy getting ready for the party. Lots of prep work for the big princess cake. I'll try to post a pic of how it comes out. I have cupcakes to make tonight, so I can frost them tomorrow night. I also have to make about 200 flowers for the cakes for the actual party. What did I get myself into? And now my husband just called to say he invited his aunt and uncle over for dinner and I didn't really have anything planned! Lovely, just lovely.

Thanks for the birthday wishes Nicole, I'll pass them on.

Birthday Parties and Stuff
Mood:  celebratory
Now Playing: Happy Birthday To You
I'm feeling so terribly neglectful of this blog. Mindsay is really very addicting. It's just so much darn fun I can hardly stand it!

Any way, I'm in the midst of birthday party prep as my beautiful little girl is turning 3 on Friday and she wants to have a Princess party. My parents are coming in from out of town and the cake I'm making is pretty complicated. I complicated it myself, but I'm still going to complain about it. It's my blog and I'll whine if I want to. My daughter is now into all things princess, no I didn't encourage her. She got there on her own. She must always be wearing a dress and fancy shoes as she calls them. She doesn't want me to put her hair up either. She likes wearing it down, having, as she puts it, "princess hair".

My husband asked her what she wants for her birthday and she told him that she wants a cake with candles and lots of presents. Makes sense to me. I want lots of presents too.

I need some Ginko Biloba
Mood:  special
Now Playing: The Other Side
For about the past 3-4 days, I couldn't remember Sadaam Hussein's name. I just kept calling him the guy in Iraq. Jeez. I think having kids affects your memory. I'm still really good at remembering things that nobody else probably cares to remember, but now at work, if I don't write something down, forget. I do, forget it. Awful really.

I'll get up and walk into another room, and I can't remember why I got up and walked in there. So I have to walk back into the other room and sometimes that doesn't help. I think it's because I have kids now and I'm remembering more important stuff. Like to check on the kids often, to keep them out of the fish tank. Or to keep them out of my make-up. Oh, the joys of parenthood.

Being peed on, pooped on, sneezed on, coughed on, and puked on. It's lovely really. Especially the formula pukes, those are great. Although my daughter using up a brand new tube of hair gel because she thought it was lotion is pretty high up on the list. What a mess. She stuck to everything.

Weekend
Mood:  party time!
Now Playing: Hella Good - No Doubt
Not much to say today, I'm really bored and extremely busy at work. Just doesn't seem right for a Friday. Everybody have a good weekend.

Annie, I hope your E-bay venture works out well and you make big bucks!

I'm off to buy a Red Hot Chili Peppers CD.

Finally
Mood:  bright
Now Playing: It's about damn time!
My husband has been hogging the computer all dang night. E-bay is evil. I'm telling you. It's tempting and it will suck you in, with promises of great deals and stuff that you can't find anywhere else. But it's lies, all lies! Lies I tell you! It's like having a Wal-Mart inside your home.

I admit, when I first started e-baying, it was quite a rush and I was getting so much stuff that my mailman actually complained about all the packages he was delivering. I have since kicked the e-bay addiction and seldom log on. My husband however it seems spends the majority of his time looking for stuff he'll never buy. The problem in this is that he e-bays and I blog. We only have one computer. We're like kids fighting over who gets to watch what on the TV.

But finally, he has stepped away and I seized control of the computer and am sincerely tempted to change the e-bay password. Hahahahaha! The computer will be mine, all mine! Nothing can stop me now. I'll blog until I need glasses.

Oh, wait . . . I already need glasses. Hmmmmmmm. Perhaps I'll just blog till I can't blog no more.

Goodnight. Tomorrow is Friday eve! Yipeeee!!!!!

The Possessed Toilet
Mood:  sharp
Now Playing: Iris - I'm so tired of this song
The toilet here at my place of employment is a bit problematic to say the very least. It rocks from side to side and some times it decides to quit working mid-flush. It's latest trick is that you have to turn the faucet on at the sink for the water to fill up in the toilet tank. Kind of nifty to watch really and if you leave it running too long, the toilet starts to flush it's self.

Many a time I've had to stand over the tank and play plumber, since everyone else is grossed out by putting their hand in the tank, not the bowl. Yuck! I've made psuedo-parts out of paper clips. I'm so McGyver like it's scary. Give me a toothpick and some black tape and I can fix just about anything.

Oops, forgot I left the water running. Poor toilet is probably flushing it's self into oblivion.

Read Me
Mood:  bright
Now Playing: I don't know, why don't you hum something
Parenting at it's finest. I'm blogging and my husband is playing on the PS2 and our daughter is petting the fish. It's probably best for the fish if it stays in the water. I really feel for the small defenseless animals. My daughter is one of those children that pokes her fingers in cages, grabs unsuspecting fish and pulls dogs tails, and no matter what you tell her or what you do, she will do it again. She's not trying to be mean, but she really doesn't understand the concept.

I'm really dreading my turn at pardon the interruption. Yikes!! I'm way at the bottom of the list and I'm already freakin' out.
